Lake Cauma, a must in Flims.
The pearl of Flims, as the turquoise lake is also called, is located only 2.9 km from the Hillsite Hotel. In the summer of 2016, the lake was voted the most beautiful mountain lake in Switzerland by the readers of 20Minuten. It is not only beautiful but also very clean and clear. From its shore, you can see down to the bottom when the weather is nice. Lake Cauma is very well suited for family trips, picnics for couples or a nice cool-down with friends. Pedalos, stand-up paddles and volleyball courts are available at the lake and guarantee an entertaining day. The playground and sandpit also offer lots of fun for younger visitors. Changing rooms and dining facilities are also available.
Hillsite Tip
First come to the Hillsite Hotel to pick up your guest card and benefit from a discount. You can also walk around Lake Cauma for 5 minutes and then enter the water, without paying for entrance.

Getting to Lake Cauma
From the Hillsite Hotel you can travel comfortably by foot, by bus, bike or by car to Lake Cauma.
On foot: 30 minutes
The 2.9 km long walk to Lake Cauma takes about 30 minutes and is family and pram friendly. To get to Lake Cauma, just follow the main road towards Flims Waldhaus and after about 10 minutes turn left at the Pomodoro restaurant. Then follow the road for 3 minutes and the road markers will lead you to Lake Cauma.
Public transport: 7 minutes
You can reach Lake Cauma in a few minutes by public transport. The bus station “Flims Dorf, Bergbahnen” is located directly in front of the Hillsite Hotel. You have to take the bus to the bus stop “Flims Waldhaus, Caumasee” and then take a short walk of about 5 minutes. The way from the bus stop “Flims Waldhaus, Caumasee” to the lake is marked and should relatively be easy to find.
By car: 4 minutes
You can reach Lake Cauma in a few minutes by car. However, you might have to wait at the parking lots, as there are only a limited number of parking spaces. We therefore recommend that you do not travel by car when the weather is nice or on weekends. To get to the parking lots, you only have to drive along the main road in the direction of Flims Waldhaus and after about 2 minutes, after the Hotel des Alpes, turn left and follow the road and the signs. From the parking lots you can then comfortably reach Lake Cauma by foot.
By bike: 9 minutes
From the Hillsite Hotel you can reach the pearl of Flims by bike in a few minutes. The path is also very narrow for inexperienced mountain bikers. All you have to do is follow the main road to the Hotel des Alpes, then turn left and follow the signs.
